African Women Chartered Accountants ('AWCA') is a 10% beneficiary of the economic benefits generated through AIH. It's an NPO, which focusses on skills development and the accelerated advancement of African Women CA's in the country. AWCA was founded in 2002 on the premise of mutual support and personal development of African Women Chartered Accountants. AWCA's vision is to “Accelerate the development of black female chartered accountants”. In order to realise this vision, the AWCA board approved a “three tier strategy”, which focuses on:
  • Identifying and developing young girls;
  • Nurture and train and
  • Leadership development.
The unwritten motto of the organisation is to “Develop as we lead”.

United Nations under Secretary general and Executive Director of UN Women Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka was honoured with the Woman of Substance Award earlier this month.

The Woman of substance award has been given to nine women who are business and social leaders engaged in business transformation, community development and nation building.

The African Women Chartered Accounts ( AWCA ) which presented Mlambo-Ngcuka with the award hosted a luncheon with business women to celebrate the special occasion.
